Alberna Hickman

Alberna Hickman, 90, of Murphysboro, Il., formerly of Vergennes, Il.  died at 5:50 am on Monday, February 16, 2004, at the Rehab & Care Center of Jackson County in Murphysboro, Il.   
Alberna was born in Somerset Township, Jackson County, Ill. on April 25, 1913 the daughter of
Louis and Wilhemina (Neiderbrach) Arbeiter.  She married James E. Hickman in Murphysboro on July 30,1933, he preceded her in death on May 11, 1989. 
Alberna was a homemaker and a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Murphysboro.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, February 18, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Murphysboro; the Rev. Theodore Mayes officiated.  Interment was in Pleasant Grove Memorial Park in Murphysboro.  Visitation was at Crawshaw Funeral Home from 5 to 8 pm on Tuesday, February 17, and on Wednesday from 10 to 11 am at the Immanuel Lutheran Church.   Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's association and will be accepted at the funeral home.
Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Viola and Paul Parrish of Murphysboro, Joan and Gary Degenhardt of Ava, and Dolores and James King of Murphysboro, two sons and daughters-in-law, Chancey and Vickie Hickman of Bartow, FL., and Larry and Joyce Hickman of Elkville Il. One brother and sister-in-law George and Grace Arbeiter of Murphysboro, one sister and
brother-in-law Virginia and Robert Cozadd of Centralia, Il. Thirteen grandchildren, and 31 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Olga Todd, one daughter-in-law Juanita Hickman, and two granddaughters.
